UBSCT Essay Practice

Prompt: The school is considering turning off the vending machines during class breaks. Write a letter to Dan on whether or not this is a good idea. List three reasons and give examples to support your opinion.

Mark's Letter:

Dear Dan,

I disagree on turning off the vending machines because some kids might be hungry because they don’t have any food at their house so they won’t be able to eat breakfast and they might want to buy some snacks so they won’t be as hungry. So if they stood on then everybody will be alright.

Another reason why you shouldn’t turn them off is because if you do then the school store will lose money and won’t be able to get any profits. The kids like to buy more then one item at a time and the snacks are more then 50 cents and that’s money the school could be using to buy school supplies or upgrade the school to make it look better.

My third reason why you shouldn’t turn them off is because there is no reason why you should. If you turn them off then kids would be skipping class to go get a drink at the store or something and that’s not good for kids to missing class just for a drink or a snack. So I don’t think they should be turned off if the school board wants this school to have good attendance.
